Matto Magazine
Dominika Hadelova & Aldo Buscalferri

We made a video call with Dominika Hadelova and Aldo Buscalferri from Matto magazine to talk about the excitement and the crazy firsts steps to put together a new title, their favorite contents in the first 3 issues released, and the silver lining of isolation: they told us they’re actually working on the new issue in a more focused way thanks to the confinement.

Matto is a biannual Paris based magazine that seeks to escape definition. Instead, it remains in a constant state of experimentation, fluidly combining art, photography, literature, fashion, music and sex. In 2018 Aldo Buscalferri and Dominika Hadelova, video makers and art directors at Matto Studio, founded Matto, called after the Italian word for ‘crazy’.

“I think that when you start a project, at the very beginning, you feel like you’re a bit crazy to have that idea, to start a new project. You start to speak to someone but you somehow don’t fully believe it's happening, in your head it’s not so concrete, but now it’s a reality […] And every day the project has been evolving in some way, and now maybe we have a more precise idea of what we want to do with the magazine, and now it’s not just the magazine, we have a creative studio”
—Dominika Hadelova
